OAK, founded in 1987, made a variety of chips for sound cards, graphic cards and optical storage. In the late 80'ies and early 90'ies they made a few graphic chips for the budget segment. Compatiblity was good but performance was poor. After Windows got more popular OAK could not keep up and failed to remain competitive.

In the late 90'ies OAK was developing a 2D/3D accelerator called Warp 5. The chip was never released and it's technology was acquired by ATI.

In 2003 OAK was acquired by Zoran Corporation.
