A 12-core CPU based on the Bulldozer core. Basically the AMD FX but used in a server platform. AMD's Bulldozer core was not the fastest out there but it's high-core count can clear the losses on low IPC a bit. Nevertheless it wasn't a succesful story since Intel just had the better overall product.
I have benchmarked it but keep in mind that my X89 motherboard runs with single-channel memory which impairs performance; especially on high core-count CPU's. > Read more
The Opteron 6204 is a 3.3GHz 4-core part based on the Bulldozer core. Because it's based on the Bulldozer core it's performance can be disappointing in several use cases. With it's low-core count there is not much to compensate this lack of performance making it difficult to justify this CPU.
