The fourth generation Opterons; six-cores at 45nm.
An almost production-like AMD Opteron 8435 CPU. This particular CPU is made in February 2009 but the official release was at June 2nd, 2009.
Unfortunately this CPU doesn't work in my ASUS KFN4-DRE. In my Tyan Thunder n3600R I see it does attempt to boot but falls into POST-code 'FF' fairly quick. Usually when a CPU is defective it falls into 'FF' immediately. Perhaps something is incompatible with my motherboards so whenever I get hands on another socket 1207 motherboard I'll test again. > Read more
In 2009 AMD released the 6-core Istanbul. Models ranged from 1.8GHz to 2.8GHz with a few submodels that have the HE or EE label. HE stands for High-Efficiency and typically have a ~40W lower TDP. However, the HE models aren't clocked higher than 2.1GHz making this 2425 HE model the fastest High Efficiency CPU within the Istanbul line.
An even more energy efficient (labeled EE) version is the Opteron 2419 EE with a TDP of just 60W at 1.8GHz. > Read more
