Trident 3DImage 9850

Despite that this card was for sale to the general public, it is not very common. The reason for this is simple: those who wanted a simple card for outputting 2D-graphics would buy cheaper 2D-only cards. Those who wanted 3D-graphics bought a decent 3D-graphics card.

The 3DImage 9850 is Trident's attempt to stay in the competing 3D-graphics market. Unfortunately they did not succeed. The 3DImage 9850 isn't very fast nor scores high on compatibility or image quality.

Trident has always been somewhere in the budget market. It was fine for 2D-chipsets (TVGA8900 and such) but in the '3D world' the rules changed.
