Version: 1.1.1.0
Does this game need an introduction? Half-life is released in 1998 and a popular 3D-shooter. It runs on a modified Quake engine and allows people to customize the game by using 'mods'. These mods (modifications) often feature new models, maps, sounds or code for enhanced (on-line) gameplay. Due to these mods Half-life became a popular game.
My benchmark method
Create a shortcut to the hl.exe file and add '-console' to the shortcut (see screenshot). In case the line in 'Target' is quoted ( "" ) then you have to write '-console', without quotes, after the quotes.I use default settings for OpenGL and select 3Dfx Mini Driver for 3dfx cards and default for others. See screenshot below:
To benchmark this I used the console command (open console with the ~ key) 'timerefresh' just after starting the Hazard Course without moving the player at all. See the screenshot:
I'm not sure what this benchmark stresses the most but it seems that it's not so CPU intensive as 3DMark2000. However, it seems that scores can differ a few frames on fast CPU's, especially with low resolutions. I ran the benchmark a few times and noted the highest score.
Because not all graphic cards were able to run at 1280x960 I don't have much results at that resolution. Higher resolutions (1024+) are preferable when using a faster (i.e. Pentium III-S 1400) CPU.
Note that this is a 'timerefresh'-benchmark which seems to reflect the fillrate. The high framerates are not the framerates you will get during real gameplay!
