Version: 3.2
I used Quake II to test performance of CPU's under Windows '98. Because I used Quake at 320x200 for 386, 486 and fifth-generation CPU's I thought Quake II at a higher resolution would be great to indicate performance of lower-end fifth-generation CPU's up to faster 1000MHz CPU's.
To benchmark I installed Quake II version 3.2 and configured it at 640x480 software rendering. Start Quake II using the '+set s_initsound 0' command to prevent audio from being initialized. Open up the console with the ~ key and write 'timedemo 1'. After that load up the demo with 'map demo1.dm2'. The score in the end is the final score.
