This is a popular benchmark because it is not much CPU-intensitive (especially for it's time). Some benchmarks are limited by the CPU because the CPU cannot feed enough data to the graphic card. When this happens the graphic card cannot show it's full potential. The nature demo from 3DMark2001 doesn't use much CPU-power. Of course it's not fair to compare a Pentium III 1GHz with the latest quad or six-core CPU's but in the long run it's possible to use a fast GPU with an older CPU. Because the other 3DMark2001-demo's are CPU-hungry I only use the nature demo.
My benchmark method
Fire up the program and click on 'Change' and clear all the check boxes and select 'Game 4 - Nature'.
Click 'Change'.
Only select Game 4.
Click 'Ok' and then run the benchmark by clicking on 'Benchmark'. After the benchmark ran you will get a screen indicating you didn't run enough tests for the final score (this is true, you need game 1, 2 and 3 for this) so click on 'Show Details' and search for the game 4 score.
Click 'Show details' to see the results of Game 4.
